‍With our Jeep all set, we’re finally on our way to South Dakota! We’re driving through Albuquerque and Santa Fe, heading to Trinidad, Colorado. Spending the night in a Walmart parking lot. It’s free, well-patrolled, and pretty quiet—this is our sixth time staying here. We grabed some fresh groceries and a free refill for our SodaStream machine (it was a gift!) before hitting the road again. The snow-capped Rocky Mountains welcome us in Colorado: Spanish Peaks and later Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. They’re a beautiful sight. Traffic this Friday is manageable, but the road isn’t. Pothole after pothole! Beate has to go back to the back more than once to put pictures or other items back in their places. We made a quick stop at Buck-cee’s (some friends recommended) and then we’re in Wyoming! Now we spend the night at a really nice rest area. Tomorrow, we’re planning to be in Custer after this 930 miles/1500km trip from Gallup.
